Team Leading and Management
Management qualifications can be applied across a wide range of job roles throughout many different sectors. Good managers are essential to the success of all businesses therefore these qualifications are designed to provide candidates with transferable skills at a variety of levels. County Training's management qualifications offer fantastic progression opportunities, ranging from Level 3 through to Level 5.
Who are these qualifications for?
These qualifications are for a variety of different managers including those who are new to a management role, right through to individuals who have strong management responsibilities with duties involving strategic business decisions, implementing change and managing a range of complementary projects.
What are the entry requirements?
In order to start a team leading or management qualification, candidates must have a work placement. The candidate must be paid the Apprenticeship Wage as a minimum, but many employers pay a bit more. The position should ideally be for at least 30 hours per week. If you are already employed, working requirements can be negotiated depending on existing experience.
Personal qualities required to work in this sector
If you're already working in a team leading or management role, it is likely you will possess many of the personal qualities that are required. However, there is always an opportunity to continue developing and improving your ability as a manager. Due to varying workload and responsibility for other team members, managers need to be highly organised whilst having the ability to support staff and respond to their needs. Managers should be excellent communicators and listeners with empathy for others. Other skills and qualities include being able to solve problems and leading with a focused and structured way of working.
Qualification information and content
How long will it take to complete?
The Level 3 qualification will take between 15 months to complete. At Level 5 candidates can expect to complete in 30 months. Completion times may vary and are dependent on a range of factors including candidate ability, previous experience and working hours.
How will the qualifications be achieved?
Qualifications are largely work-based. Candidates will have an assessor who will visit them at work on a regular basis to document progress through observations, discussions and witness testimonies from managers. Depending on your current circumstances some individuals will just work towards the vocational qualification, whilst others may work towards an Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships offer candidates a full package of qualifications known as a standard. In addition to the Diploma, all candidates are required to work towards maths, English and IT qualifications, whilst learning about employment rights and responsibilities and building on personal learning and thinking skills.
Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship
Candidates will work towards achieving the following:
- Level 3 Diploma in Management
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths
There is plenty of scope to continue progressing and developing through management qualifications. After completing the Level 3 qualification as a Team Leader Trainee Supervisor it is likely you will have gained the experience and skills to progress onto the Level 5 qualification,which provide you with the opportunity to take your skills to a more strategic and challenging level.
