Course Details
DOES THE SUBJECT INCLUDE?
The qualification covers the maintenance of a chainsaw and cross-cutting trees at ground level. This work will be carried out in a workshop or a woodland environment. Cross-cutting operations will include cross-cutting timber under tension in the form of fallen branches, tops, tree sections, severed uprooted stems, horizontal stems, or any timber in a similar situation. This describes the cross-cutting of trees or timber into either manageable sections or to a specified given length and diameter, where trees have been felled Course Assessment: The assessment is with an independent assessor and will be made up of both practical assessment and one to one questioning. The recommended duration for this is between 3 to 5 Hours.
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
Candidates must be at least 16 years old.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I GAIN IF I SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE COURSE?
City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting
OTHER RELEVANT DETAILS?
If you are looking to enter the Forestry or Arboriculture industries this is a required qualification.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
You should provide your own personal protective equipment and this must comply with legal requirements.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
Mandatory qualifications are needed to enter the industry and learners can progress from Level 2 to Level 3. On attaining this qualification the next qualification to attain, would be:
- the City & Guilds N,P,T,C Level 2 Award in Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm.
