Course Details

About the course:

This qualification will appeal to those who use a forklift as part of their work in agriculture horticulture or distribution and warehousing. It has been developed to cover the “basic training” requirements of the Approved Code of Practice for Rider Operated Forklift Trucks.  Candidates can choose the type of forklift for Rough Terrain Masted Forklift or Telescopic Forklift. The assessment covers the associated differences between use, operation and maintenance of the machines, pre-use maintenance and safety checks, recognition of controls and instruments

Level: Beginner

This does not replace any legal requirement for a driving licence

By the end of the course you can expect to be able to do the following:

  • Prepare the Fork Lift Truck for Driving or Manoeuvring
  • Operate, Move or Manoeuvre the Fork Lift
  • Select, Transfer and Position Loads Using a Fork Lift Truck
  • Undertake Post Operational Checks on the Fork Lift Trucks

You should:

  • Be prepared to have a photo, which will be on your qualification card on completion of successful assessment and certification.
  • Be prepared to come back to college for the assessment day
