Greens with Envy (Gardening)
About the course:
Do you want to grow your own vegetables and fruit and do your bit to help our planet? Are you at a loose end and wanting to meet new people? Pop over every Monday morning and have fun in the garden at Walford College. Meet like-minded people, have a chat, a cup of tea and enjoy the satisfaction of growing your own vegetables and flowers in a relaxed environment
Level: Those wanting to meet new people and learn/improve gardening knowledge and skills
Learning Outcomes will include:
- Being able to identify a range of plants either flowers or vegetables
- Knowing when/how to plant a range of vegetables and plants
- Understanding how to pot on and then plant out seedlings and young plants
- Knowing how, why and when to prune rose
There will be an opportunity to complete units of City and Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Practical Horticulture
You will need:
Old clothes and wellies, bring your own drink..
Your tutor will supply:
Seeds /compost/gloves /gardening equipment.
Helen Steed is an enthusiastic, approachable, experienced, qualified florist who is knowledgeable on most things green! She studied horticulture alongside her floristry qualification at Radbrook College. She currently teaches Early Years and education at the Gateway centre in Shrewsbury. .
